Not every friendship is as harmless as it seems.
Loner James McKay wants nothing to do with Hadley Grayson. After all, the last thing a drug dealer needs is the pretty, new girl trying to be friends. Walking distractions like her lead to trouble, the kind that can get you 10 to 15 behind bars.

**WARNING: bring your box of tissues!**
Great YA read!! I'm actually going to buy a copy for my oldest daughter! There are many lessons to be learned from the friendship that Hadley Grayson and Janes McKay. Lessons to be learned about judging people based on superficial aspects rather than realizing that we don't know the reasons people are the way that they are. There's always so much more to the story. Sometimes good people are forced by circumstance to do bad things. But maybe instead of poking fun or ignoring that weird kid at school you could befriend him and become the light in his dark world. That's what Hadley did for James McKay. But the end of this book will floor you and your emotions will be rocked to the core, hence the tissues you have.
