Review
It's no secret that I love Jane Austen, and in particular Pride and Prejudice, so when I got a chance to read this book, I leapt at it.
This adpatation has the beloved cast of characters in the Deep South of America post War. I love how Beau was able to weave the society, as it was at that time, while introducing other issues that one would not normally associate with a romance novel. The topics highlight struggles many face today, but were not openly discussed during that time. The angst and despair the characters feel are both heart and soul wrenching.
While some characters are bit different from Jane's story, most were exactly what you would expect from an JAFF story. Each character lends their voice to tell a well written story that will make the reader laugh, cry, cringed, and jump for joy. And in the end, this a love story about a boy and girl who come from different backgrounds, but together make beautiful music.
I would defiantly recommend this to any Austen fan. There is so much that I want to share, but I don't want to give it all away. If the idea of Lizzie and Darcy in America in a post war era scares you, I say give it a chance. I think you'll be glad you did.
